How will your university SPECIFICALLY measure the recyclables? Will you use volume based or actual weight measurements?:

Yale University truck operators will tally number of carts put out and note fullness of each one (1/4, ½, ¾, full). Carts will be weighed before the competition begins to establish a base weight for conversion. Weight from rear-loading containers for cardboard will be estimated from cubic yardage numbers and fullness ratings. According to Yale’s department of housing there are approximately 6,445 students living on-campus as of January 1, 2004. This number will be used to calculate pounds recycled per student.
